Among Indie films there is quite a range these days. They include those with big themes as in 1917, to the more intimate, award winning Robocall. While not a Golden Globes candidate, Robocall tells the very private story of G.T. Benz, a Vietnam vet and widower fighting to keep his life and dignity in the information age. Although lacking the glamour of films like Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, or Rocketman, Robocall takes you to a place of war where scam artists, internet crooks, and malign door-bangers amplify the normal stress of loneliness and aging. Then comes “Ginger,” a woman from G.T.’s past to supercharge the aggravation that drives him to an act of desperation. Give Robocall a look. You might be surprised.
